Welcome to Slowcial.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Slowcial website and your purchase of Slowcial products and services, including participation in the Slowcial Founder Pilot.
By accessing our website, submitting information to Slowcial, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the service or place an order.
1. About Slowcial
Slowcial helps you share life updates with the people you care about through personalized printed postcards.
Customers submit photos, captions, a personal message, and recipient mailing information. Slowcial then prepares a personalized Slowcial Post, provides a digital proof for approval, and, after approval, prints, addresses, applies postage to, and mails the postcards.
2. The Founder Pilot
The Slowcial Founder Pilot is an early version of the Slowcial service offered to a limited number of customers.
The Founder Pilot is intended to help us learn, improve the ordering experience, and refine how Slowcial Posts are created and fulfilled.
As a result, aspects of the service, workflow, designs, pricing, features, turnaround times, or future offerings may change after the Founder Pilot.
Participation in the Founder Pilot does not guarantee access to future Slowcial products, pricing, features, or programs.
Founder Pilot purchase
Unless otherwise stated on the product page, a Founder Pilot purchase includes:
Up to 10 copies of one personalized Slowcial Post
Up to 6 customer-submitted photos
A caption for each photo
One personal message
A 4.25 × 5.5 inch postcard format
Full-color printing
Recipient addressing
Postage
Mailing directly to the recipient addresses you provide
A digital proof before printing
All recipients in a single order receive the same Slowcial Post, including the same photos, captions, and personal message.
The Founder Pilot purchase is a one-time purchase and is not a subscription.
3. Pricing and Payment
The Founder Pilot price displayed at the time you place your order is the price you will be charged, subject to any applicable taxes or other charges disclosed before checkout.
Payment is due when you place your order.
Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider. Slowcial does not need to directly store your full payment-card information in order to process your purchase.
Completing payment reserves your order, but production cannot begin until you have provided the information needed to create your Slowcial Post and approved your final proof.
4. Submitting Your Slowcial Post
After purchasing, you will be asked to submit the materials needed to create your Slowcial Post.
These may include:
Photos
Captions
Your personal message
Your name and email address
Recipient names and mailing addresses
An optional return address
Notes or special instructions
Slowcial may allow you to provide recipient addresses manually or through uploaded files such as spreadsheets, PDFs, screenshots, or other readable formats.
You are responsible for reviewing the information you submit for accuracy.
If something appears incomplete or unclear, we may contact you before proceeding with your order.
5. Your Photos and Content
You retain ownership of photos, captions, messages, and other original content you submit to Slowcial.
By submitting content, you give Slowcial a limited permission to use, reproduce, crop, resize, format, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to:
Create your Slowcial Post
Produce your digital proof
Make requested corrections
Print your postcards
Fulfill your order
Provide customer support
This permission ends when it is no longer reasonably necessary to provide the service, subject to Slowcial’s retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.
Slowcial does not acquire ownership of your personal photos or messages simply because you submit them for an order.
6. Your Responsibility for Submitted Content
By submitting photos, text, addresses, or other materials, you represent that you have the right to provide and use that material for your Slowcial Post.
You agree not to knowingly submit content that:
Violates another person’s intellectual-property rights
Is unlawful
Contains unlawful threats or harassment
Is fraudulent or intentionally misleading
Would make the resulting mailpiece unlawful to produce or mail
Slowcial may decline to print or mail content when reasonably necessary to comply with law, postal requirements, or these Terms.
If we decline an order before production for one of these reasons, we will contact you regarding available next steps.
7. Recipient Information
You are responsible for providing accurate recipient names and mailing addresses.
Slowcial may review your submission and may contact you if an address appears incomplete, inconsistent, or unclear, but we cannot guarantee that every address you provide is accurate or deliverable.
You authorize Slowcial to use the recipient information you provide to fulfill your order and, as described in our Privacy Policy, to retain recipient address information to make future Slowcial orders easier.
You may request correction or deletion of saved recipient information by contacting us.
8. Digital Proofs
Before your Slowcial Post is printed, we will provide a digital proof for your review.
The proof gives you an opportunity to review the final design, including your:
Photos
Captions
Personal message
General layout
You are responsible for reviewing the proof carefully before approving it.
If you notice a mistake or would like a reasonable correction, let us know before providing final approval.
Proof approval
When you approve your digital proof, you authorize Slowcial to begin producing your order.
After approval, we may no longer be able to make changes because your postcards may already have entered production.
For that reason, please review your proof carefully before approving it.
9. Photo Cropping and Print Appearance
Photos may need to be cropped, resized, repositioned, or otherwise adjusted to fit the Slowcial Post layout.
We will make reasonable efforts to preserve the important parts of your images.
If a particular part of a photo must not be cropped, you should tell us when submitting your order or when reviewing your proof.
Colors displayed on a phone, tablet, or computer screen may not appear exactly the same when printed.
Your digital proof is intended to show the overall design and layout, but minor differences between a screen preview and the physical printed product may occur.
10. Production and Mailing
After you approve your proof, Slowcial will prepare your postcards for printing and mailing.
If Slowcial advertises a specific production or shipment timeframe for your order, we will use reasonable efforts to meet that timeframe.
Federal rules require online sellers to have a reasonable basis for advertised shipment promises and address situations where an order cannot be shipped within the promised period.
Founder Pilot timing
Because Founder Pilot orders may be produced in small batches, we may provide you with an estimated proof, production, or mailing date.
We will let you know when your postcards have been mailed.
If you decide to advertise “printed within 72 hours of proof approval,” insert that commitment here only once you are confident you can consistently meet it.
11. Mailing and Delivery
Slowcial handles addressing, postage, and mailing as part of the Founder Pilot purchase.
Postcards are sent through the applicable postal service. USPS recognizes postcards as a First-Class Mail format, subject to postal size and mailing requirements.
Once an order has been transferred to the postal service, actual delivery timing may vary due to the recipient’s location, postal operations, weather, address issues, or other circumstances outside Slowcial’s reasonable control.
Slowcial does not guarantee delivery on a particular date unless we explicitly state otherwise in writing.
We will, however, let you know when your order has been mailed.
12. Undeliverable or Incorrect Addresses
A postcard may be delayed, returned, misdelivered, or otherwise fail to reach its intended recipient if an address is incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or otherwise undeliverable.
Slowcial is not responsible for delivery failures caused by incorrect recipient information supplied by the customer.
If we become aware that a postcard has been returned or that an address caused a fulfillment issue, we may contact you.
Any reprinting or remailing resulting from an incorrect customer-provided address may require an additional charge.
13. Postcard Privacy
Slowcial Posts are currently mailed as postcards without sealed envelopes.
Because postcards are exposed during mailing and delivery, content printed on them may be visible to people handling or encountering the postcard.
This may include:
Photos
Captions
Personal messages
Recipient names and addresses
Return addresses
You are responsible for deciding what information you are comfortable including on a postcard.
Do not include information you consider highly sensitive or confidential.
14. Cancellations and Refunds
Because Slowcial Posts are personalized products created from your photos, messages, and recipient information, cancellation and refund options depend on how far your order has progressed.
Before proof approval
You may request cancellation of your order before you approve your final digital proof.
If production has not begun, Slowcial will provide a refund of the purchase price, subject to any exceptions required or permitted by applicable law.
After proof approval
Once you approve your proof, your personalized order may enter production immediately.
Orders that have entered production are generally not eligible for cancellation or refund, except where required by law or where Slowcial is responsible for a production error.
Slowcial errors
If the finished product contains a material printing or production error caused by Slowcial that was not present in the proof you approved, contact us.
Depending on the circumstances, we may provide an appropriate remedy such as a corrected reprint or refund.
Customer-approved errors
Slowcial is generally not responsible for errors that:
Appeared in the proof you approved
Resulted from information you submitted incorrectly
Resulted from an incorrect recipient address you supplied
We encourage you to review your digital proof carefully.
15. Delayed Orders
If we are unable to ship your order within a timeframe we specifically promised, we will handle the delay in accordance with applicable law.
FTC rules governing internet orders generally require sellers who cannot ship within a promised timeframe to address the delay with the buyer, including providing required cancellation/refund options.
We may contact you with a revised expected mailing date and available options.
16. Reprints
Slowcial may provide a reprint when a material error in the finished product was caused by Slowcial.
Reprints generally will not be provided at no charge for:
Customer spelling mistakes that appeared on an approved proof
Customer-provided incorrect addresses
Changes requested after proof approval
Normal variations between screen colors and printed colors
Postal delays or delivery issues outside Slowcial’s reasonable control
Nothing in this section limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
17. No Subscription During the Founder Pilot
Purchasing a Founder Pilot Slowcial Post does not enroll you in automatic recurring billing.
You will not automatically be charged for another Slowcial Post simply because you participated in the Founder Pilot.
Future Slowcial offerings may include recurring or subscription products. If we introduce them, any recurring charges will be separately disclosed and agreed to before enrollment.
18. Slowcial Intellectual Property
The Slowcial name, logo, website, illustrations, branding, templates, page designs, graphics, and other materials created by Slowcial are owned by Slowcial or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Your purchase of a Slowcial Post does not transfer ownership of Slowcial’s brand, templates, or other proprietary materials to you.
This section does not affect your ownership of the personal photos, captions, and messages you submit.
19. Website Use
You may use the Slowcial website for lawful personal purposes.
You may not knowingly:
Interfere with the website’s operation or security
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to restricted systems
Use automated methods to abuse or overload the service
Misrepresent yourself when placing an order
Use the website for unlawful activity
We may restrict access to the website or Founder Pilot where reasonably necessary to protect Slowcial, our users, or the service.
20. Founder Pilot Access
Access to the Founder Pilot may be limited by invitation, access code, availability, or other eligibility criteria.
Founder Pilot access codes are intended for invited participants and may be changed, disabled, or revoked.
Access to the Founder Pilot does not guarantee that an order will be accepted if the pilot is full or unavailable.
21. Availability of the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue portions of Slowcial as the service develops.
We may also update:
Designs
Features
Prices
Order limits
Production processes
Mailing options
Founder Pilot availability
Changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise stated.
Orders already accepted will remain subject to the terms and offer applicable when the order was placed, except where a change is required by law or agreed to with you.
22. Disclaimer
We aim to provide Slowcial with care and to accurately represent our products and services.
However, to the extent permitted by law, Slowcial does not guarantee that the website will always operate without interruption or that postal delivery will occur by a particular date unless we specifically make such a guarantee.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, rights, or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
23. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Slowcial will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
To the extent permitted by law, Slowcial’s aggregate liability arising from a particular order will not exceed the amount you paid Slowcial for that order.
These limitations do not apply where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Because enforceability varies by jurisdiction, this is one section I would have an attorney specifically review before the broader public launch.
24. Governing Law
These Terms will be governed by the laws of Virginia without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Any dispute will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
Do not fill this in until you’ve decided where Slowcial is legally based.
25. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time as Slowcial develops.
When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of the page.
Changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise stated or required by law.
Your purchase of a Slowcial Post is generally governed by the Terms in effect when you place the order.
26. Privacy
Your use of Slowcial is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, retain, and share personal information.
